Have you ever woke-up in the morning and tripped over the kids’ clothes, or maybe stepped on one of their toys, or maybe walked into the child’s bedroom and the bed wasn’t made? Did you think to yourself, “gosh, why can’t these kids pick up after themselves? Why is the bathroom always such a mess? Why is the bathtub not cleaned? Why is their bed not made?”
Oh my gosh! We’re giving all of our thoughts to the negative side of everything again, aren’t we? Why is it that we so frequently focus on the negative when it comes to our children? I have found myself doing this with my kids but I catch myself by saying ‘wait a minute, let’s focus on all of the good that these kids do. Let’s focus on all the joy that they bring into our lives. Let’s focus on all the joy we get from watching them grow. Let’s focus on the joy we get from watching them play sports. Let’s focus on all the happy times that we have together, instead of focusing on the occasional frustration.’
I know that as adults, we never left our clothes lay on the floor, did we? We make our bed every morning, right? See, what we want to make sure we do not do is feed the C.A.T. Do not feed the counter-productive attitudes and thoughts. Let’s start focusing on all the good that’s going on in our lives. Let’s focus on all the good that these children bring into our lives and all the joy that they bring. Only give energy to the thoughts of what you desire – the positive thoughts.

Don’t feed the C.A.T.
